Dr. ElBestar graduated from Cairo University Medical School and completed three years of Otolaryngology residency in Cairo University and two years of general surgery at the Memorial Medical Center, Savannah, GA, USA. He then had two fellowships in Facial Plastic Surgery and in advanced Head and Neck Surgery at the Mass Eye and Ear Infirmary, Boston, MA and Roswell Park Cancer Institute, Buffalo, NY respectively. He is currently a Professor of Otolaryngology at Cairo University and Chief of the Pediatric Unit at the Children’s Hospital, where he conducts surgery on craniofacial anomalies.
Dr. ElBestar is mostly interested in facial plastics, head and neck surgery and craniofacial surgery. This includes rhinoplasty, nasal and facial defect reconstructions, correction of congenital anomalies such as microtia, cleft lip and palate and craniosynostosis. He also performs both resection and reconstruction of head and neck tumors. He actively participates in teaching these challenging subjects, in addition to his regular under-graduate and post-graduate teaching activities at Cairo University.
Dr. ElBestar is a member of the Egyptian Society of Otolaryngology, Egyptian Society of Pediatric Surgery, Egyptian Society of Head and Neck Oncology, European Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery and International Society for Auricular Reconstruction. He conducts the Annual Cairo University Rhinoplasty Course and actively participates in many other courses including rhinoplasty, craniofacial and cleft surgery.
